| LIPOSOMES | are micro-fine hollow spheres which, depending on their size, can penetrate into the stratum corneum. The outer shell consists of a multi-layered structure of fat-like substances, which contains an aqueous hollow space. Liposomes are produced in an aqueous medium by mechanical micro-dispersion of phospholipids such as lecithin. The shell of the microcapsule is structurally identical with the skin’s own lipids. Liposomes can be filled primarily with hydrophilic ingredients, and also lipophilic ingredients and thus serve as both vehicle and transport medium.
